 Signing in

 
 

You should have received an email to confirm your log in details from noreply.spiralconnect@univ-lyon1.fr
Please check your email including your spam folder to retrieve it.
If you have deleted it by mistake click on the forgotten password link which is on the Spiral home page, a new password will be sent to you.

 
     
 

 Checking and updating your profile

 
   
     
 

1 You can amend here the email address you wish to use to receive notifications and messages
2 You can turn on notifications from Spiral Connect into your personal mailbox: strongly recommended
3 You can change here your password to protect your account
4 You can customise your profile by adding the URL of a picture of your choice
5 You can choose to display opened objects in a new window
6 You may also change the colour of your desktop background
7 You can activate the Instant messenger function
Remember to click on the save button for your changes to be taken into account.

   You can choose to view your files and different types of documents as icons or as a list.
If you choose the icon view you are able to customise your own objects with an image of your choice
 
 

 
     
 

 Managing and creating your modules

 
 

 
 

By clicking on the “+” you can create your own module.
You can create workbooks (folders) to organise all the modules you have access to , this organisation will only apply to your desktop (not to the other users).

 
 

 
 

Through the option menu:
You can rename and customise the icon of your module.
You can also select who can view the information you upload in your module.

 
     
 

 How to upload documents, images

 
 

 
 

Once you have opened a module (by double clicking on the icon), in the  ‘+’ menu :
You can  upload a document, it can be an image, a video, a Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint , pdf object. By clicking on upload you will access a dialog box to search your files.
There are other types of objects that can be added, such as a blog.
Once a student has fully registered at the Summer School, his / her blog will be created by default.

 
     
 

 Using your blog

 
 

 
 

Through the option menu:
You can open your blog for edition either by double clicking on the icon or by clicking on “Open"
You can also track the activity on your blog check the number of visits etc..
You can rename and customise the icon of your blog
You can select the “permalink” which is the URL of your blog. You can use this URL in any documents, or communicate to people so they can access your blog directly

 Editing the content of your blog

 
 

 
 

In the editing window you can:
Type the title of your news (1)
Choose to show the date when published (1)
On the page you can type text, insert presentations, videos, or images.
At the bottom of the editing page you can enter key words which will help your communication appearing in searches (2)
Remember to save your changes by clicking on the save button at the bottom of the page. 

 
     
  To publish your post you need to switch the red light button to the green light button.
If you wish to hide a post keep it with the red light until you are ready to publish.
